What is Microdermabrasion?

Often referred to as a ‘Power Peel’ Microdermabrasion works by spraying a jet of fine inert micro-crystals across the skin in an abrasive action. These crystals also have disinfecting properties to help clean the skin of infected lesions such as acne. The dead skin cells are lifted from the surface by this abrasion and suction, stimulating new healthy skin growth.

What conditions may be treated by Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion may be used to treat a number of conditions, including;

• All over skin rejuvenation
• Acne and blemishes
• Acne, surgical or raised scars
• Aging and sun damage
• Facial, body and hand exfoliation
• Mild lines and wrinkles
• Enlarged, obstructed or blocked pores
• Rough, unevenly textured skin
• Lip Lines

Is Microdermabrasion safe?

Microdermabrasion is a very safe and gentle process. There are very few risks to Microdermabrasion, and although changes in pigmentation are very rare (generally areas of increased pigmentation) they may occur in darker skin types and are usually temporary.

What does treatment involve?

Generally, a session of Microdermabrasion of the face will take approximately 30 minutes. It is not painful and it may feel like you are having a facial. After Microdermabrasion, your skin may appear red and this usually persists for a short time only.

How often do I need to undergo treatment?

As each client is unique, the number and frequency of treatment is dependent on your individual needs. We generally recommend attending 6 sessions every fortnight for optimal results. Treatment for acne scarring may require additional treatments.
