Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Rejuvenation and Tightening
Platelet Rich Plasma also known as ‘Facial Stem Cell Regeneration’ or simply ‘Plasma Therapy’ came to Australia in 2009. Plasma is the part of our blood that is rich in platelets. Platelets are important for clotting our blood and repairing our body. Platelets also release ‘growth factor’ which stimulates stem cells to repair and produce new healthy tissue. Platelet rich plasma is obtained by separating it from your blood with a centrifuge. Because your own blood is used there is no danger of disease transmission or allergies.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy Treatment Plan
Your cosmetic clinician will provide an assessment of your needs and desires. Blood is collected, the same as when you have a simple blood test. Whilst you wait the blood is centrifuged for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the blood to be separated into:
2. Red blood cells
3. Platelets and white blood cells.
The Platelet Rich Plasma is then extracted with a syringe, and is usually activated with Calcium Chloride. The Calcium Chloride causes more ‘growth factor’ to be released which improves stem cells stimulation for more repairs and more production of healthy tissue
Local Anaesthesia is provided and the Platelet Rich Plasma is injected into the appropriate areas.
The procedure is uncomfortable but relatively pain free. Bruising can be the only real complication
Platelets gradually increase collagen and overall health of the skin.
The newly produced collagen begins to plump the skin and reverse the visible signs of aging.
The skin will appear to be slightly sunburned for up to 48 hours with little or no associated discomfort. Within two to three weeks, most patients notice that their skin feels and appears firmer and has a healthy, vibrant glow. The improvements continue over the next 12 months, as new collagen production continues to improve the overall appearance of the dermis.
NOTE: Advanced wrinkles and severe scarring cannot be reversed. Persons with skin disease (SLE, porphyria, allergies), cancer, chemotherapy, severe metabolic and systemic disorders, and abnormal platelet function (i.e. blood disorders) underlying sepsis excludes the use of PRP
